The friends of Mr and Mrs Back made a visit to their residence on Friday last for the purpose of wishing them fareWell and also making a presentation to them of a sideboard, as a mark of esteem in which they are held By those in the district. Mr Back, after a long residence in Manaia, has decided to leave the district, and has taken up land down the coast. Mr Meldon, on behalf of those present, made a short speech, and made the presentation. Messrs Hughes, O'Conn-ell, Long, and Bourke also made complimentary remarks, and Mr Back suitably replied, and a very pleasant evening was spent.
