THEATRE ORCHESTRA ON STRIKE.

Only the conductor and two musicians entered the orchestra, and the performance proceeded under considerable disadvantage. The malcontents held meetings outside the theatre, and addressed large crowds on their alleged grievances. The theatre management subsequently received a letter from the Reading Trade and Labour Council complaining that the conductor had "corrected" the men in an offensive manner in the hearing of the audience for mistakes for which they were not responsible.
