HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE

WELLINGTON, July 31. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, July 29, reports (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot): — Mutton: No alteration in market since last week. The weather is too dry. Canterbury, 3f d; North Island, 3idLamb: There is a better demand. Canterbury, sd; other than CanterI- bury, 4|dj River Plate, 4fd. Beef: The market is very dull, with scarcely any demand. River Plate chilled is in large supply. It; is reported that chilled beef has been stored and frozen. New Zealand hinds, 3£d; fores, 2|d. BUTTER. The market is firm, with a. hardening tendency on account of the drought. Australian ... ... 112s Danish ... ... ... 122s Siberian ... ... ... 110s New' Zealand (secondclass quality, stored) 108s CHEESE. Itew Saaland good fair on spot, £21; fair grade, £20; fair current Manila, £21. JulySeptember, same price. The »utput from Manilo for the week was 23,000 bales.
