CANADIAN POLITICS.

THE RECIPROCITY ISSUE

il CABLE—PRESS ABBOCIA.TION—COPYRIGHT. OTTAWA, July 30. Parliament is dissolved, and elections on the reciprocity issue will take place in September.

The Western grain growers' projected formation of a new Agricultural Federal party, independent of both Liberals and Conservatives, has been abandoned. There is great relief at the Liberal headquarters, as great losses to the Government forces were feared at 'the forthcoming elections.

The dissolution of Parliament surprised politicians, as it was generally believed action would not be taken for at least another week. Much dissatisfaction is expressed at the Government's failure to introduce a Redistribution Bill based on the census, as Western Canada and British Columbia will be deprived thereby of an increased membership, probably Amounting to twenty. Manitoba ancf fl|£tish Columbia are largely opposed to reciprocity.

If retxirned to power Sir W. Laurier intends to make more stringent rules for the prevention of obstruction.
