AUROA.
[FROM OUE OWN COEEESPONDENT.]
Our local sports are very hard at work improving the sports ground. Several working bees have been held — mower, hay-rake, and no less than-eight drays were at work on the ground last week. A decided improvement has been effected, and given a fine day and good nominations a record attendance will be looked for. The concert should be a great success, the committee having secured first-class talent.
At a meeting of the Farmers' Union on Saturday hopes were expressed that local farmers would take more interest in the union. Mr Dunn was appointed delegate to conference.
The Auroa Railway League has made rapid strides in membership the last two weeks. No fewer than thirty-five new members have been enrolled. At the last Auroa sale of Messrs Gillies and Nalder prices, I believe, were a record, and these sale yards are quite a boon to the farmers inliiis district. It means a saving of time to farmers, and. saving of travel to stock. r armers are very busy ploughing and sowing grass seed. After the recent land sale at Kapuni local farms have advanced £5 \iev acre.
