PALMERSTON N., May 12. N.Z.L. and M.A. Co. report:— At Palmerstton North on Thursday we had a moderate entry of sheep and a very heavy yarding of cattle. Sheep generally were of indifferent quality, and were inclined to drag. Cattle sold well» although in some cases high reserves prevented business.' The special entry on account of Mr Carr sold well. We quote: — Sheep: Aged ewes in lamb Bs, store ewes 5s 6d to 6s Bd, forward ewes 11s to 12s lid cull lambs 4s 6d. Cattle: Small weaners 20s, good weaner heifers £2, aged store cows 28s to £2 2s 6d, store cows £2 14s, forward cows £3 10s to £4 4s, forward cows £z 17s 6d, springing* cows £7 10s, 20morith steers £3 17s, good condition well-grown 2-year steers £4 15s, 2J and 3-year steers £5 12s 6d, forward bullocks £6 to £6 15s 6d, bulls £3 to £4 7s 6d. Abraham and Williams report: — Ai> our sale at Palmerston North on Thursday a fair yarding of stock was offered and sales were effected at the following quotations: Sheep: F.f.m. ewes in lamb 14s, 4 and 5-year ewes in lamb 9s sd, empty forward ewes 8s 9d to 9s 6d, wether lambs 6s 2d, ewe lambs 5s Id, cull lambs 2s 10d to 3s 2d.. Cattle: 3-year bullocks £5 17s 6d to £fi, forward cows £3' 14s to £3 17s ,6d, young dairy cows spring calvers £4 19s, store cows 36s to £2. Dalgety and Co. report: — At our Palmerston North sale this day there was a fair entry of both sheep and cattle. We quote: — Sheep: Empty ewes 5s Id to 7s 7d, 4-year ewes to 9s Bd,-'forward wethers to 13s 9d, ewes in lamb to lls 3d. 1 Cattle.: Springiwg..oo3ES .-£2 12s"to £4, fat cows" £3 13s to £3 16s, springing hejifers to £4 15s.
