THE DAVIS CUP.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION.! SYDNEY, March 14. Tho committee of the Tennis Association has decided that tho preliminary tie for the Davis Cup between England and America must bo played at such a date as to enable the concluding round against Australasia to be played in New Zealand in December.

The secon.d match .between Patea and Wavbrley Tennis Clubs was played at Waverley, on Saturday. In the men's singles Waverley , were winners by 5 to 1, the Patea ladies evening things by sto 1. In' tho ladies' doubles Wavorley proved victors by 2 to 1, .while the Wavorley men also won tho men's doubles by 3to nil. In the mixed doubles Waverloy were again victorious by 4 games to nil.
