BAND CONTEST.
OPENING PROCEEDINGS.
(.PKEBB ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, March 15. The North Island Brass Baud Association's thirteenth annual contest was commenced this evening, when the E flat soprano cornet and B flat baritone solos were played. Ihe soprano was won by John Trussell (Wanganui Garrison), Wilkinson (Gisborne City 1 * second, and R. Watson (Manaia )third. There were ten competitors. The baritone competition was won by George Jensen (Wanganui Garrison), J. Cosgrove (Gisborne City) secondj and Thomas Cole (Nelson Garrison) third. Seven competitors. The weather is very wet.
