At the inquest on Edward J. Bourke, Constable Butar and L. Cookery deposed that Hallinan (the accused) admitted the assault qn- a, -man witneßses described to hijn giving • Bourke' s description. ' vHallanan illustrated how he struck and kicked the man, and stated that he had settled; him and done for him. The jury found, after consideration, that they were led to beHeve Bourke met bis death by foul play, and Connelly (brass-boy on the steamer Talune), and Hallinan and Atrderson (seamen of the steamer Canopus), were all implicated in his death. . Hallinan and Anderson stand charged with murder, and come before the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Connelly ii the Crown's chief witness against the two prisoners.
