A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

It appears hj& had j I just set a charge of blasting powder on i I the face of thie pit, and had lit the fuse tip set it off, when picking up about 141b of powder which, was lying near in a small canvas bag it suddenly went off, with the result tihat line young fellow was , badly burnt about the face and arms, and ] .', nearly every statdh of clothing was burnt off him. Mr Kehely, who had not lost consciousriiesß, immediately caUjed to them to dome at once and drag him from the spot as the fuse was alight and the charge would loon g|o off. This they did, and after they had gone a few yards the charge wient off, carrying tons of gravel and <"arth with it. The three had a veiy narrow escape ot their lives; as it was Mr Kehely has teen severely burnt, and will not recover for a w**k or two. How the powder in his hand caught alight he does not know, unless it was caused by a small spark from the fuse he had just lighted. It was only a day or two before that Messrs Fehely Bros, were congratnllating themselves how free they had been from accidents during their tame ate contractors. r 1/3 Lucky Slipper Onarm, in solid rilver.
