OBITUARY.

-«•- MR W. GRAY. There will be general regret throughout the postal service and the country as a whole at the announcement <of the death of Mr W. Gray, Secretary of the General Pont Office of New Zealand. Mr Gray had been in weak health for some time past, and it was xmly too -plainly pen that Ms. career was closing, but the trip to the Postal C<mference at Rome last year seemed to have done' him a great deal of good. During the past ' month or twy>, however, he had relansied into & weak i state, and the end came rather suddenly bin Friday night. Mr Gray was one <tf the oldest civil servants of the colony. At a comparatively early age he succeeded to tbe highest position in the Postal Department, and it is not too much t«, say that he impressed <m the department many of his own characteristics, promptness, energy, firmness and courtesy.
