EXHIBITION NOTES.

CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. The attendance at the Exhibition to-day reached the high total of 16,543. The weather -was -waa-m amd! bright for the continuation of the fire engine contests, which attracted a large •crowd) on the sports ground during the day. In the evening thlsie was a huge attendance to view the water procession on the Avon, in which about seventy boats filled with firemen took part. A large number of monster balloons, with fireworks attached., whioh, could not be used in- canmection with the pyrotechnic display of the previous night owing to the high wind, were sent up, preceded by flights of Brockets. A parade of school cadets was also a feature of fS& evening's entertainment. Cadet battalions' from Wangaoaaii, 250 strong, and Nelson, ! 120 strong, arrived during the day. j
