Telegraph., commenting on Mr McNab's reply, says : The assertion that the power of foreclosure was taken away 60 years ago is a fairly large one, because 60 years ago New Zealand as a colony hardly existed and had nt> land laws. There have been many foreclosures since then, and the financial institutions are loaded up with land. New Zealand, in addition to a graduated lan<i tax, will now give a notice to quit, and companies will realise tihat and take their capital away from the colony. It appears to us that a bank or insurance company will be debarred from advancing money to 'buyers, as in time of depression a lot of property might be thrown on their hands wMoh. they could not hold- ' If serious losa should be involved it would be due to State confiscation of the right to hold property paid for which, hitibfirto existed, and on the strength of which the capital was invested in the country.
