AUCKLAND, July 10.

A fire broke .jufrin a- four-roomed house, the two rooms downstairs and a small room attached at the rear with the contents being destroyed by fire, and the contents of two rooms upstairs damaged by water. Mrs Funnel! left the house in the morning to look for a more suitable residence, and left a child in the house until sh<» returned. The rnfortunate boy had a narrow escape for his life. Two reighbors smashejd open a window on th#' alarm being given * and found th© cnild^ almost suffocated, but after being in the fresh air some time it recovered. How th© fire occurred is not known
