The City Football Club (Auckland) opened its Australian tour to-day, meeting Newtown at Sydney. The weather was fine and there were about 17,000 spectators present. A. Nicholson, Harris, Frayer, Todd, and Magee stood out of the City team.

Auckland won the toss, and played with a fresh westerly wind.
