CHRTSTCHURCH, April ~17. i At his Rangiora meeting last night' the 1 Psremier said h» would indicate tihe direction in which reductions were contemplated. A reduction of 3s per cwt'pn sugar meant a saving of £69,058 to the people of the colony. The remission, of the duty on., dried, fruits accounted for'another ' *£?4i050, maizena and cornflour £1495, potatoes £3225, cotton goods toylO per cent. £15,549, Forfar and linens, etc., £6404, tobacco' from 3s 6d to 2s 2^l, £131,165.
