OLYMPIA ELITE RINK.

The rink was well attended oil Saturday, the morning session being crowded with juveniles eager to become good skaters so as to be able to take part in the children's carnival. The evening session was also well patronised, especially by the ladies, nearly all of whom are now proficient skaters. The ladies' ring-tilting contest has been postponed till Saturday. On Wednesday night the management have still another side-splitting event, namely, an obstacle race, in which the competitors have to climb over a pig .net, through swinging J>arrds, under a tarpaulin, through sacks, jump .hurdles, crawl under them, and negotiate the toboggan. This event caused great merriment in Auckland, no less than* three of tue competitors being claimed by the pig net and hanging by their feet till helped out of their awkward predicament. The prize is a silver medal', and the entries are limited.

We draw attention to the notice of the ceremony of laying the foundation stones of the new Methodist Church on Thursday next. A banquet will be held at 1.30.
