ATTEMPTED THEFT.

AT PA KNELL POST OFFICE

[press association.] AUCKLAND. September 12. A man entered the Parnell post office at 5 o'clock last evening/ and informed the lad in charge that, he 1 , wished to inspect the. gas meter. He \went behind the counter, pulled out thejdrawer, and grabbod the cash box. Thejlad grappled with tho man, who knocked him down, but "dropped the box and escaped, the money being scattered over the floor.
