DISASTROUS FIRES.
(PRXSS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, March 17. The Waikeikei district is being devastated by disastrous fires, and hundreds of acres of much-needed feed and standing bush have been swept. Some settlers had practically all their feed burned, and there are tho gloomiest prospects ahead. No feed means no milk, and in consequence of the fire and drought combined the local factory may have to close down. Settlers have been fighting day and night to keep the fire in check, and as there is no prospect of rain fheir task seems hopeless.
