EXCELSIOR v. RIVALS.

Elliott put on 29 and Platt 33, the innings closing for 93. For Excelsior Cole secured three wickets for 38, and Butts five for 24. Excelsior opened well, Cole and Liddle both hitting freely. With 17 up Liddle was beaten by Campbell. Haggett was scoring well when he was unfortunately run out. Butts and Yearbury made the stand of the innings, and looked at one time like winning the match. An attempt at an impossible run, however, spoilt their chance, and Yearbury was but. Butts made 20 not out. the score totalling 80. Campbell and Elliott each secured four wickets. This will be the last championship fixture until January 14 next.
