m (From Our -Own Correspondent.) The School Committee meeting lapsed on Tuesday evening for want of a quorum. The annual distribution of prizes took place at the Convent schools on Wednesday .on the brealring-up for the Christmas holidays, and to-day (Thursday) a picnic was held at Mr Macßeynolds' farm on the banks of the Waiau river. The children, with parents and friends, were driven out, all sorts of amusements were kept going to entertain the boys and girls, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. At a meeting of the Bowling Club last evening the question of Sunday .playing was debated. After a it
