THE STORY DENIED

(Received November 10, 1.16 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 0.

A representative of the North German Lloyds Company denies the statement that Germany is constructing a naval base in New Britain, and says no large stores or immense wharf are being erected. There is only sufficient accommodation for trading purposes. /Received November 10, 9.6 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 10.

The agent of the North German Lloyd's states that the whole of tlie alleged naval base at New Britain consists of two bun galows and one shed for coolies. There are no spacious warehouses filled with ammunition or war material, the whole armament consisting of one Remington rifle and a few rounds of cartridges. It is in charge of an Australian engineer, and as the man has left his family in Sydney as a hostage there is no immediate danger. The Australia pier is just large enough to accommodate the company's steamers.
