ELTHAM.

ELTHAM IUCON FACTORY.

(From Our Qwn Correspondent.)

A meeting was -held on Saturday, Mi Parlane in the chair, and betwen 20 and 50 shareholders, taking part. Resolutions re articles of association and number of directors passed at previous meeting were confirmed. In the course of his remarks, Mr Parlane said that during the week new share capital to the amount of £1700 had been subscribed. There was no reason why the factory should not be in working order again by Christmas ; if the shareholders would back up the directors in their plans for working the concern on absolute co-operative lines, it was not possible to make a loss in the ordinary way of business.

Considerable discussion took place about finance, and finally it was agreed to go on with tho building at once, and tackle the difficulties one by one as they came along. A meeting of shareholders of Eltham Bacon Company at Mangatoki passed a resolution urging the directors to erect receiving yards at Mangatoki. A site has been offered at a nominal rental.

Horse sales at Eltham are now on a sound footing ; good business was done at last sale, prices, in favor of sellers, being easily obtained for best animals of all classes.

What appeared to be the preparations for starting another big blaze in Eltham were discovered on Saturday afternoon, nnd soon got known all over the town ; >' seems to me that a better way would have been to set a watch and say nothing.

If your ground is full of stumps, and cannot be ploughed with a inouklboard, we onn recommend a Benicia Disc Plough, which has "served its time" at this kind of work. Morrow, Bassett and Co., Christchurch. — Advt.
