Mr Wallace, chief engineer to the Amec, rican-Panama Canal Commission, claims to it have solved the problem of the successid ful construction of the canal. This he. p© would accomplish by diverting the Chane- gre river towards the Pacific Ocean, thus 1- permitting the canal to be constructed at id sea level.
The cost of the diversion would be three millions sterling.
