SPEECHES AT HOME.
(Received September 86, 0.20 a.m.) LONDON, September 24. The Right Hon. W. St. John Brodrick, speaking at Bra-mley, declared that although no Protectionist he supported Mr Balfour'* retaliation proposals, a* forming a sound, safe, practicable, and necessary poljcy. Personally, he was not committed to pneference with the colonies. "W» must hear," he said, " a good deal more ol what the cotonies intend* to- offer before we shall be able to decide what we may offer them.." 1 y *
Mr Chamberlain state* that the asoertion that he will support Home Rule in return for the NationeKsts' support off hi* fiscal policy is utterly without foundation, and an absolute effort of an iltdirected imagination.
