The heavy south-easterly gale continued with much violence until yesterday, when it gradually blew itself out. During the day much anxiety was expressed at the non-arrival at Onehunga of the Takapuna, which left here for tho northern port on Wednesday evening. Eventually, however, the welcome news was received tliat she had l>een sighted ab 2.30 p.m., and subsequently that she was entering tlte harbor. — Taranaki News. A later Press Association telegram read : — Tho steamer Takapuna, for the safety of which much anxiety was prevalent in town to-day, arrived from New Plymouth at 4.15 p.m., after a trip extending from 9.15 nn Wednesday night.
