BOWLING.
1 The bowling -tournament will be held at Auckland next week, and promises to be a very successful affair. About 26 clubs will compete for the championship, which in all probability will go to one of the Auckland clubs or one of the WelJington clubs. Few clubs have the advantage- these clubs possess of having a large membership to choose from, and being able to put their best rinks in the field. . » # » Hawera Club will be represented by the following rinks : — (1) R. Hicks, Sufcton, G. Syme, Tait (sKip); (2) W. Dinde, Hens-on, Strackj Parkinson, (skip). The •rinks are not as strong as they might be. and Parrington especially will be missed as a skip, but it is hoped that they will be aMe to make a good fight against some of the smaller clubs at any rate. * * * A good many teams are going up by to-night's train. Among them will be several Wellington clubs, P^tea, Hawera. and probably Palmerston and Feilding. It is estimated that about 300 bowlers will take part in the tournament. • * # At a meeting of delegates of the various Napier bowling clubs to discuss the .question of holding the champion fours tournament in Hawke's t ay m 1905, the following motion was passed, and will be forwarded to the Northern Bowling Association for consideration at their meeting, to be held in Auckland next month : —"We shall be glad to have the champion fours tournament in Hawkess Bay m 1905, provided the levy system i"s brought into force and the tournament is undsr tin manrgenwnt of the Northern Bowlirg Association, md they defray the expenses in connection with the tournament, including refreshments on the greens."
