THE BLACK FAMILY.

This well known combination of musicians are booked to open in tho Opera House on Thursday next, when they will give one of their charming entertainments. The Evening "Post, speaking of their entertuinmunt in Wellington, says : — They g-ave a highly enjoyable entertainment — refined and refreshing. The family were heard, as it might be, in their own 'drawing-room, engaging in musical recreation and exemplifying in a striking manner the possibilities of music rightly cultivated in the home circle. The prime donna is Miss Nellie Black, who, 'besides possessing a rich, sweet voice of good range (invariably winning encores for her vocal contributions), is also an accomplished instrumentalist, playhig- the piano, mandolin, aud the violin, the latter exceptionally we'll. Mr Black, son., is, of course, a musician' — that is, he can take his turn at the •double-bass or clarionette in the orchestral selections, and can sing a humorous: song effectively. Mr Bertie Black plays the cornet and 'cello, and a number of nucer instruments in a " turn" entitled " Odds and Ends," and can also dance a sailor's hornpipe very well. Miss Elsie assists with tho violin ami flute in the orchestral pieces, also plays- a fluto solo, and dances a " Spanish Tarantellc."' Mrs Black, at the pianoforte, renders valuable assistance.
