Quite a number of good fish are being caught from the Tawhiti on the fine evenings. Mr Twigg secured five one evening, the largest weighing 4£lb. Mr Twigg also caught 16 fish nt the mouth of the Wain gongoro one evening a few days a^o. Quite a number of kawai have been caught with the rod and minnow at the Waingongoro and Tongahoe during tin last week.

The Hawera lads have caught c,nite n big basket of trout near the mouth of tho Waingongoro with the worm and mm t-v during the last few days. There fish .<*» re mostly small; from fib to lib in ".-fijj.h:, but two three-pounders and one h'xpounder were landed by them Mr Brethertqn landed 14 small .fish at the same place to the Devon minnow. Messrs Hastie and Gordon are reported to have made some good or tb«minnow.

Mr Moorhouse has also landed ouue a number of good fish from the Tawhiti, the best fly being Hofland's Fancy. Messrs McLean and Hornby *nade a gool basket of 29 fish from the Kaupokonui a short time ago, the fish woighinir from lilb to 41b. _ A .start has been made with the carej taker's cottage at the fish-ponds, and Mr I Moorhouse will soon be installed out there.

The Rotoriiii people are agitating for a separate Acclimatisation Society for their district. . t A recent issue of the Rotor ua paper says trolling on the lake >in the oil launches Fairy and Mourea and also in boats has been actively carried- on for the past three or four days, with ihe result that, some vary successful fishing has taken place. A party on beard the Fairy secured 46 fair average sized trout. On Saturday and Sunday JMr A. Maxwell and party in the oil launch Mourea landed some 30 fish ranging from 41b upwards. • On Monday, in La-e Rotoiti, quite a sensational catch, was made by Mrs Davidson, who, with, her husband, was trolling in a boat on the lake named. 2<h.e* trout is the ;largest yet caught with a line in this vicinity, and weighed 1941b. Although the largest,' it •is not the heaviest, as one weighing _._.lb was secured by Mr Lascelles a season or two ago. Tt is the * opinion of expert j anglers, however, that had the fish caught-] by Mrs Davidson been landed in' about a -I month hence, its weight wpiild have befti about 241b. It is computed that considerably over 100 fisb have been secured within the last three days, and from those who have been angling since the opening of ' the season we learn that the sport improves daily. The oil launches for trolling purposes appear to be in " great ' "de-i mand, being in constant use. '
