Insurances on the fire »t (he Widows' Life Assurance building: Guardian Office £2500, also a policy in the same office for £800 against rent on the building, and another of £800 on the briok building at tbe back of the main^jjreuiiiei, and occupied "by Sfessrs Haylaud I and Kean, but *aot toqehed by the fire. The Guardian distributed the risk 'among other offices as follows?' £500 in tbe Yorkshire, £983 6s 8d in the North British, and £800 in the South British • Office. The fittings and furniture were insured in the Phoenix for £200 Messrs McEee and Co. had policies for £100 each in the South British, Norih QueenslaDd, and New Zealand Offices. Mr . Gooch, who estimates his loss at £100, was insured for £60 in the Royal Ex- { change. Mr Smith's furniture l- was insured for £150 in the South British, , end his books for £80 in the PhCßuix. Bit Bt ra* Chambers and Co.'s. stock was [ covered by a ppl-cy for £500 ia the United. Tbe V.M.C.A ?s n*w piano was i isured for £50. and the remainder of 1 the furniture, etc., for £40. :

Kimbell's, late Hitchcock's, furniture factory was destroyed by fire at 2p';m. * A strong west wind carried trie fire 1 through'the bu;lding from end to J end, [ anicl very little wis saved. Insurances: £100 on the building, £110 on machinery, _. and £150 on engine in the, Sun, fire office.
