The lending department of ihe Government has agreed, to receive the harbour board's debentures for half a million, falling due on January Ist, for five years at four per cent. The board has ordered a suction dredge to cost over twenty tiousaud pounds. WESTPORT, December 15. Mr. R. H. F. Reeves has received intimation of his reappointment to the Legislative Council. WELLINGTON, December 16. At the request of the Princess of Wales and the Marquis of Lansdowne tho house committee of the officers' fund has given a sum amounting to rather more than £350 to the proposed Veterans' Home. This sum is the unused balance .of the amount sent by New Zealand at the commencement of the Boer war.
