CHURCH OF ENGLAND BAZAAR.

On Thursday and FiiJny last a bazaar was held under the auspices of the above church, nnd was a complete financial success. The bazaar wns opemd by His Worship tho Mayor (Mr G. W. To'yler). There was a largo attendance on both dajs. A prominent fcatuie of the imzaßr was a Maypole dance by a number of young ladies, who performed it in a manner which reflected gteat credit on their teacher (Mrs Cane). In the evening, songs were rendered by Rev. J. A. Jacob, Mr T. B. Crump, and Mfsdames Crump, Wrigley, and Jacob (Hawera). The stalls were laden with a great variety of useful and fancy articles, ar.d the attendants did a brisk trade both days. Great praise is due to the members of the guild, and to the energetic secretary (Mr E. Pratt), who was ably assisted by Mr Madden. All connected with- the affair worked hard to make it the success it was.

Wilson ; rffrefhments, Mesdame3 Pagp, Briant, Harrison, Robinson, and Misses Page and Cowan. Maypole dancers: Queen, Ida Stevens; pages, Nolsf Pratt and Eileen . Paynter ; dancors, Minn'e and Gladys Tayler, Lena Mouat, Evelyn Turner, Minnie MoGon«gK Ethel Stanners, Nora McGarry, Rachel Cox, Pauline Wilkinson, Alison Wilson, Sybil Carncroes, and Alice Cane.

There were twelve entries for the baby show, which excited much interest. Mrs Bush's baby secured first prize, and Mrs Fratt's second.

An article which deserves special mention was " The old woman who livid in a shoe." This was a mammoth shoe, in which were dolls representing an old lady surrounded by her children. This was tLe work of Mr L. Hill, and was greatly admired.

A silting of the Police Court was held on Saturday, when Mr Easther, Truant Inspector for the Education Board, had a number of parents before the Court for breaches of the School Attendance Act. Fines ranging from 10s were imposed. The presiding justices were Messrs Graves and Godkin.
