Pahiatua, August 15. The Borough Council has decided to abandon the water gas works, and throw them back on the Permanent Investment Society of Wairarapa, from whom they were supposed to be purchased. The Council is said to be acting on advice.
WOODVILLB, AugUSt 15.
At a meeting of the provisional directors of the New -Zealand Meat Producers' Association, it was decided to again call the delegates together at Woodville, when matters of great importance will be discussed.
Wellington, August 15. Speoial trips for the conveyance of stock to Sydney are to be made. The Talune is leaving Auckland on the 26th instant, and the Hawea leaving Wei* lington on 21st instant.
The Surveyor-General has informed the Oouncil of the New Zealand Institute that three surveyors and Bix assistant surveyors have been selected for employment by the Imperial Government on the Gold Coast, West Africa.
