(per press association.) Dunedin, March 25. The remanded charges against James and Archibald Walker for stealing paint were proceeded with. They were committed for trial.
Wellington, March 27The Chief Justice dealt this morning with the following prisoners remanded by magistrates for . sentence : — Peter Jones, Wanganui, breaking and enter**'* ing, 18 months' probation ; Fritz Spielman, Palmerston North, theft of a bicycle, six months at the expiry of a sentence he is now serving; Alfred Skelton and Cecil Nicholl, Masterton, ' theft, ordered to come up for sentence when called on, but Skelton is in gaol for another offence ; Edward Williams (Wellington) and Frederick Williams iWanganui), forgery, six months' imprisonment each.
