1 (FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.) 1 i The cricket match to have been played at Stratford yesterday, between . a team from the latter town and Eltham, did not eventuate, owing to the heavy rain which fell at Stratford, Here no rain was experienced until late in the afternoon, when light showers fell. The footballers held a practice on thftDoraain yesterday. At the Eltham school, during dinnerhour yesterday, a very pleasing little affair occurred. Mr R. Williamson, assistant master, has been transferred to Normanby, and leaves for bis new home tomorrow, and the scholars surprised him with a presentation, which speaks volumes for the kindly feelings which exist between master and sobolars. Master V. McNabb, on behalf of the boys, presented Mr Williamson with a gold scarf-pin, set of studs, and a lovely silk handkerchief, - on which was worked "Good Luck." The girls' present consisted of a silk handkerchief. Fronj both sexes was presented an addces^.Jn which the greatest good wishes w.ere expressed for Mr Williamson's - future success.
