RUSSIA AND COREA.
— ♦— WORKING A POINT AGAINST JAPAN. Received February 26, 10 a.m. London, February 25. Gorea, at the instance of Russia, has agreed not to lease or grant any State a bay or individual island of Kojido or the shore opposite and thence to Chemulpo. Mr R. Connop, the well-known racing man who died in Hawera last week, was 28 years old. The majority of business people observed the half-holiday today, instead of Friday, as requested. At Wanganui Supreme Court, Howard, Moores, McDonald, and Thurston, charged with escaping from the Wanganui Gaol, pleaded guilt;, and were each sentenced to one year's imprisonment, to be cumulative npon any sentence which either had received or would receive for other offences. Messrs McGregor and Nioholas, of the Taranaki Stableß, have a new advertise* ment to-day.
