KAPONGA.
(from our own correspondent.) Messrs Baker and McMechin, of Eltham, have opened a branch establishment here for the manufacture and sale of up-to-date furniture. A first-class dressmaking establishment, under tho sole management and I supervision of Miss Young, has been I opened, where ladies' own material are made up in the latest styles, fit guaranteed. (See Star's business columns.) A rather serious flaw was discovered, or rather it discovered itself, during testing operations of the water supply to the local Co-operative Dairy Factory. The system adopted for carrying the water to the factory is part concrete and part malleable iron piping. During Friday and Saturday the pipes leaked rather badly at the joints, and on Sunday afternoon the concrete at the connection with the pipes .split, the result being to flood part of Mr Mackie's section and to send a young Kaupokonui flowing down the streets of Kaponga. t Mr W. Humphries, the contractor for I metalling the township, has the work well in hand.
