WALMATE HORTICULTURAL SHOW. '

This annual fixture, which eventuates j on Thursday and Friday next, hau proved a popular outing in tbe past, not only to the Plains people themselves, but to numbers from outlying districts. This year the Committee hope, with fine weather, to eclipse all ] former efforts with a two days' Show, the main object being to allow those members of a family who would be debarred from attending a one-day Show to be present on tha second day, ! when the big cycle event provided . ' should prove an additional attraction ' for the young people. The high-class ' refreshments which tbe Society make a ( feature cf will be, as usual, provided by ' the Ladies' Committee. Mr Peacock's recently arrived cycle motor will be on exhibition, and he also hopes to have it in working order on the track. Amongst other conveniences, the use of a horse paddock will be provided gratis for patrons. To facilitate delivery of exhibits, a waggon to convey them out to Manaia will meet the late trains at Hawera on Wednesday night. In con* sequence of tbe twa days' show, the | opening on the first day bas been fixed • for 2 p.m., which will allow of exhibits j coming from outside a radius of two miles from Manaia being received up to 12 noon. This will no doubt be much appreciated by exhibitors from a dis- I tance. The two large marquees, which ■' tbe Society purchased last year, and I which proved a great convenience, will be again brought into requisition. The day's amusement will be wound up by a concert on Thursday, and a dance on Friday evening, both to be held in the Drill Hall. i
