KAPONGA.

(fkom our own correspondent.)

Our little township, though small, is still in want. At the meeting of the Settlers' Association, lately held, it waa decided to communicate with Sir Joseph Ward with a view of his calling at Kaponga on the way to Opunake, to enable tbe honourable gentleman to receive deputations. Our wauts are small, though just, and it is to be hopod the gentleman on tour will consider them so. Sir Joseph has notified the Chairman of the Association that he will be in Kaponga on Wednesday morning. Mr McGuire, I believe, has consented to introduce the deputation. The Kaponga Social and Literary Club's first night, Tuesday, 25th inst., promises to be a success. Games of all descriptions, songs, musical items, and tea are on the cards. As we have several budding politicians in our midst, the Club should have a very successful season.
