LAND BOARD.
The Board met on Tuesday. Present: ' Messrs Mackenzie (Commissioner, in ' the chair), Kelly, Heslop, Rattenbury, and Connett, the latter member taking his seat for the first time. ! The following applications to transfer ! were agreed to : G. G. Larcom to A. G-. and S. G. Larcom, one-third interest each in section 5, block 1, Opaku; E. Henn, jun., to T. "Willy, sec. 91, block 10, Ngaire; J. H. Waller to G. Wen, lock, sec. 26, block 11, Ngaire. An application from J. W. Espin to transfer to E. Parrott was referred to the Ranger for his report. A. Hunter applied to sub-let section 6, block 5, Kapara, to J. W. Grimes, and the latter through his attorney, Mr W. Fisher, applied for leave of absence for twelve months, having been enrolled in the Eighth Contingent. The application was referred to the Ranger. A number of applications to mortgage were dealt with. The following applications for freehold were agreed to:— H. Burgess, section 25, block 9, Kaupokonui; A., and A. Bisset, section 5, block 8, Hawera (license expired) ; C. Fischer, section 4, block 13, Opunake. Flans and schedules of nine sections in blocks 1, 2, and 6, Opaku, were laid on the table and surveyor's recommendations adopted. Consent was given to R. A. Adams to grant tram and timber-cutting rights to W. O. Clement, over section 94, block 10, Ngaire, according to usual conditions. The Ranger's report on 72 properties, comprising 19,251 acres, showed the value of improvements required to be £7736, and of improvements effected £21,207. Seven selectors have not complied with requirements; 35 are resident, 22 non resident, one exempt ; 26 are required to reside, 22 are resident, three non-resident, one exempt, 13 resident where residence not due. — The report was considered satisfactory. It was decided to recommend that the area lying between the Terrace End and Mangaohu Special Settlements and the boundary of the previous reservation be set apart as an addition to the Matemateonga Range Reserve. — News.
