Out of 114,376 persons in the Boer concentration camps in January, 109 men, 587 women, aud 1049 children died, the lowest average sinoe July last. A committee of women, under Mrs Fawcett, widow of the Right Hon. Henry Fawcett, appointed by the Government in July to inquire into the condition of camps, has recommended increased comforts and precautions to be provided. Lord Milner has agreed to carry out the recommendation regardless of cost.
