PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.

i • The Patea West Road Board met on Friday last. Messrs Johnson and Amon waited on tbe Board to ask that the timber for culverts be not removed from the Alton streets, and \ that labor for putting in the culverts, etc., i be provided by the Board. — Held over. • A ciroular was read re meeting to be held ' on the Ist March to consider the opinions 1 of the various Boards on the question of traffic bye-laws. It was resolved that the ■ Board is of opinion (after considering Mr I Barnicoat's opinion as to the use of bullocks) that bye-laws regulating traffic i should be framed and adopted, allowing 1 the use of bullocks as well as horses during | the prohibited monthß, provided the num. \ ber of such bullocks and horses be limited < m lieu of limiting weight of load. Also ' that all the members of the Board be ! delegates to attend meeting on Ist March. ! Mr Allen reported that 44 chains on J Upper Kakaramea Boad, authorised by the * committee, had been completed, but that * 25 chains extra (uot authorised) had been I effected on the orders of Mr Hudson; i Consideration postponed. 1 Mr Foreman reported need for examina- ( tion of culvert near his place, Manutahi \ Boad, and Messrs Allen and Foreman were \ empowered to do necessary repairs if : urgently needed, otherwise to report to \ next meeting. ' Eesolved that repairs be effected from . Washer's to Couohman'B, and also to c Sohultz's. 1 Mr Morrison spoke as to the advisability a of eradicating ragwort. It waß resolved v that the Chairman be asked to convene a c publio meeting at Alton immediately, with i a view to taking into consideration the best means of eradicating ragwort and other noxious weeds.— Press. *
