HAWERA FIRE POLICE.

The first meeting of the enrolled members of the Hawera Fire Police was held on Monday evening, in the Borough Chambers. About twenty were present, Mr A. Paterson in the choir.

Mr Dowling, secretary pro tern, read draft of proposed rules, numbering nineteen, which were adopted. Mr Paterson was elected captain; Mr T. F. Dowling, lieutenant ; Messrs J. W. Harding and Foden, sergeants ; corporals, Messrs A. G. Brett and R. Tait ; secretary, Mr Foden ; treasurer, Mr R. W. Sargent; standing committee, captain, lieutenant, secretary, treasurer, and Messrs Tait, Brett, and Brunette.

The Committee was authorised to collect funds, approach Borough Council for assistance, and report in general by next monthly meeting as to plant, etc., required.

The monthly meetings will be held on first Thursday in each month. The uniform will be peaked cap, with white band, and " Fire Police " in black letters.
