THE ESTIMATES.

Tbe Navy Estimates amount to ' £31,255,000, and permit of arrears in construction being overtaken. New construction now proposed absorbs consisting of two battleships, two armoured and two thirdclass cruisers, four scouts (which are a new type— a sore of naval gallopers), nine torpedo boat destroyers, four torpedo boats, and four submarine boats ; with an increase in the personnel of 3875 officers and men.

Twenty-five of the present ships will be fitted with modern armaments.

A committee is to be appointed to consider means for strengthening destroyers, and the naval reserve, which is below strength. Naval volunteers are to be re-estab-lished,, and sailing shipß for training are to be abandoned. There will be no manoeuvres in British waters, but a combined movement on the part of the Mediterranean and Channel cruiser squadrons.

The future composition .of the Australasian squadron will be discussed when the colonial delegates arrive in England for the Coronation.

The Army Estimates amount to .869,310,000, providing for 219,700 ordinary army and 300,000 (?) on war service.
