PREMIER ON THE WEST COAST.
(PBR PBBSS ASSOCIATION.) Hokitika, February 14. The foundation stone of the Westland ~- war memorial was laid during a pelting rain in the presence of a large concourse of people from all parts, inoluding numerous exoursioqists from as far north as Reefton, fully 2000 being present. The number would certainly have been doubled under more favour*' "'"* able oonditiono. The stone was laid with full Masonic ceremony. Mr Seddon, being acting Grand Master representing New Zealand Grand Lodge, made a lengthy patriotic speeoh, which was heartily applauded. The volunteers paraded in strong force*, Hokitika, February is. ♦ The Premier was entertained at Rimu last night, and presented with addresses, one by the residents and the other by old age pensioners.
