SAD FISHING FATALITY.

(PER PBBSS ASBOCATIION.)

Auckland, February 12. At Tauranga, on Monday afternoon, two young native girls, who went out fishing in a canoe from Matakana Island, got blown away in a sudden north-east squall. To-day the police received news that the body of one of the girls, about eight years of age, had been found on the beach. She was a daughter of a well-known native named Jacob, who resides at Matapihi. The canoe has not yet been found.

There are strong complaints about the manner in which property is destroyed by persons, adult or juvenile, who must be called "larrikins." The borough officers have had a great deal of trouble in respect of tbe Recreation Ground, and the owners of Bayly Park, are the latest complainants. It is safe to say that there are well over a million ping-pong' players m England alone. Messrs John Jacques and Son, who own the registered title of " pingpong," state that for months past they have been Belling 10,000 sets a week. Probably half a million sets is not beyond the mark reached by the sales for the year.

First entries for Nolan, Tonks and Co.'s Eltham sale are published.

This' marvellous preparation instills into the blood the most potent blood-forming and nerve-invigorating elements whioh have ever been found in nature. Here is a tribute to its merits. Miss G. Coinpton, MoKenzie Terraoe, Wellington, writes : — " I have been taking Wilton'B Bovo-Ferrum for poverty of blood, and I am delighted at the effect of it. I had previously .persevered for Borne time with doctor's medicines without getting any benefit, but the Bovo-Ferrum did me good from the first bottle, and now I am a different woman altogether."

TWO BTKONG REASONS. W. J Mcllroy, Esq., Kumara, N.Z., said reoently :— " From aotual use in my own family, and remarks made by all who have ever used Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, I kuow it to be the best cough mixture in the market. I have had the agenoy for over four years, have sold many dozens, and have never had a single complaint. For sale, at Hawera General Store.— AdAt.^ Mr Sponoe, of the Economic, will com mence his half-yearly sale on Thursday 18th inst, continuing it for om month His London buyer advises a large ship ment on the way, to make room for which some wonderful bargains will be offered for sale.— Advt.
