DEATH OF SERGEANT SISLEY.

(FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.)

Some months ago Mr P. Sisley received advice from the New South Wales military authorities that his son, Farrier-Sergeant Sisley, N.S.W. Contingent, was dangerously ill with enteric fever. Since then the parents had been anxious for news of their son, but could not obtain any. The Mayor (Mr G. W. Tayler) took the matter in hand, and wrote and wired to the Premier, and also interviewed him. Yesterday Mr Tayler received the following wiro : -" Deeply regret to inform you that in reply to cable sent by me to our agent at Capetown; I am informed that Sergeant Sisley, New South Wales, died of enteric fever on the 20th January, at Middleburg hospital. Kindly break the news to his parents, and express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy with them in their great loss. Sergeant Sisley, as you are aware, was not in our contingents, otherwise his relatives would have been kept advised by wire as to how he was progressing from time to time." Mr and Mrs Sisley will havo the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad loss.
