Christchorch, February 9. The Governor to-morrow goes to Southbridge on Adams' motor car, and on Tuesday or Wednesday visits Cheviot.

Replying to a deputation with regard to Boer prisoners for the Chathams, the Premier said he did not look with favour on the proposal, as he thought the Boors were close enough, ■ and suggested New Guinea. He said it was true the Imperial Government had sounded the New Zealand Government as to sending Boers to Stewart Island, but, taking local matters into consideration, he thought it inadvisable. However, he would place the question of the Ch&thams before the Cabinet.
