MANAIA TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday night. Present : Messrs Hunt (ohair), Donald, ana McVicar, and Mr Limbrick, who took his seat for the first time.

OOBBESPONDFNCB. From tbe Sydenham Borough Council re cost of compilation of valuation rolls, complaining of excessive costs. The Clerk reported that the account sent in for revision of the roll for the town district from April, 1901, to March, 1902, -was only 15s. No action taken. LIVE HEDGES.

Resolved, That notice be given to owners of properties •which have live hedges abutting on to the streets that same must be trimmed.

DOG REGISTRATION.

Resolved, That the fees for dog registration be 2s 6d each collie dog, and 5s all other breeds. Also that P. Tarrant be re- appointed registrar.

ARRBAES OF BATES AND BENTS. Resolved, That the Clerk be authorised to sue for all rates and rents outstanding after the 28th February next. SUTHERLAND BO AD.

The Waimate Eoad Board wrote, stating they proposed repairing a portion of the Sutherland road (that portion which is the boundary between the road and town aietriots), and asked that the Town Board vote £1 for £1 towards the work. , „ , , , Resolved, That the subsidy be voted. (Donald— Limbrick.) The matter of constructing tbe balance of this road (Tauranga Ika street) was bronght up, but action deferred till later on.

BLBOTBIO LIGHTING.

The Secretary Hawera County Electric Light and' Power Syndicate wrote offering to light the town by electricity with 20 lamps of 16 candle power during the next 20 years for M 0 per annum (the price paid at present by the Board for lighting 6 (kerosene)>treet lamps). The Company will also supply private consumers at rateß not exceeding those the Stratford Company are authorised to charge under their Lighting Act of 1898. It is calculated that tbe company would be able to deliver current in town within 18 months. After discussion, it was resolved, That the terms embodied in the letter be accepted. (McYicar— Donald). A few accounts were passed for payment.
