The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency, Co Ltd., baa received the following cable, dated London, January sth: —Wool : The Bales progress firmly. The sales opened at an average advance of about 5 per cent on last Bales' closing rates for crossbred Blips, about 7£ percent for scoured medium and coarse crossbred, about 12j pet cent for medium and coarse greasy crossbred.

A new boarding-house is to be erected in Union street for Mr Weeks, of New Plymonth.
